Just a Shining Artifact of the Past

Oh, 2011. This was an interesting year, filled with a lot of ups and downs. The interesting part is that I spent a lot of time this year feeling kind of guilty for not writing/recording/editing enough, but when I look back, I wrote 35000 words of fic, recorded 11 podfics and 2 co-podfics, and made over 1000 icons.

Which... when you look at it all together like that, doesn't seem too shabby.

The best part of the year, I think, is that despite some truly sucky times, I will probably remember this as The Year I Started Writing Again. Just like that. With capital letters and everything. I hadn't written anything for about 10 years when I started my first fic last January, and I'd never actually written a story in my life aside from a few school projects. It's hard to put into words how much it means to me to be writing and being able to be creative in that way. It's so important to me, and I'm really glad that I can have that to remember 2011 by, fandom-wise.

( SO. Without further ado, here's a list of what I made this year, along with some commentary. )

Oh my GOODNESS. That took a while. I'm proud of what I've accomplished this year, and I'm also excited about my upcoming writing and podfic projects. I've got BRBB to write, and I've got theopteryx's Might I Have a Bit of Earth recorded, and it's in process of being edited. I'm going to get a jump-start on that soon, and I hope to have it finished SOON. And then I'll be starting my podfic of novembersmith's The Anatomy of a Fall, which I'm incredibly excited about. podklb will be recording a version as well, so there will be a veritable bounty of podfic of that story soon! I'm also hoping that in 2012 swiiftly and I can finally finally post our 15,000 words of girl!Frank/Gerard/Jamia threesome porn. \o/

So, that's my 2011 wrap-up. I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of fandom work I actually did get done. Hopefully I'll remember that and there will be less beating myself up for not doing enough in 2012.

OH MAN. So, there's ANOTHER love meme going around. This one's anonymous and holiday-themed (like a secret santa where the gift is LOVE), and I wasn't going to do it, but I'm actually feeling KIND OF GREAT at the moment and decided WHY THE HELL NOT. \o/?

But so, here's what: it's likely only a SMALL percentage of my flist will even CARE about this, but I have been working on a podfic of the Adam Lambert/Kris Allen story More Myself With You for LITERALLY TWO YEARS. It's a WIP and I have 6 of 10 parts done, and I made a goal for myself of finishing it by the end of 2011, which I have failed at WOEFULLY thus far. And it's been hanging over my head and I've been feeling SO BUMMED about it, and I just sat down and recorded the LAST THREE PARTS! \o/\o/\o/ So now, I just have to edit parts 7-10 and put them out and I will be DONE! It's hard to believe how long it has taken, and I feel SO great to have gotten this huge step out of the way. My voice is SHOT, but it was worth it. :D

In addition, I've gotten a HUGE portion of my Xmas shopping out of the way this weekend, and I feel SO much less CRAZY IN THE FACE than I did on Friday.

YAY. This is a post of YAY. Even though I still have laundry to do and work to do and fic to edit and presents to wrap and various holiday-related projects to accomplish! I have crossed something HUGE off of my list, YAY.

Hello! This podfic is a gift for my dearest desfinado. I realized last week after re-reading this story that it really kind of displays much of desfinado's id, all wrapped up in one neat REALLY MESSY package. :D Consequently, it's kind of one of the dirtiest podfics I've ever done.

Hello. So, it seems that when I want to be creative but am also feeling totally wiped out due to crappy work times or bad weather or not feeling well (or hey - HOW ABOUT ALL OF THOSE THINGS AT THE SAME TIME. AWESOME), I tend to make icons. It's relaxing and fun and hey - any excuse to stare at pretty/ridiculous pictures of MCR is FINE BY ME.

So, turns out I, uh, made 400 of them this week. O____O

Hello! Short silly post time. So, when I was editing my podfic of desfinado's Proof, I sort of accidentally stumbled across something that's equal parts trippy and hilarious. So, I decided to export and save it and share it with everyone now as a "hey, lol, look what I did" kinda thing. I accidentally copied and pasted a couple takes of one line twice into the same audio project, but they were out of sync. When I listened to it, I thought it sounded kind of cool, so I added a third and exported it.

Oh right, and... warning: the clip isn't G-rated. I mean, it's just: "Oh," he moans, sounding surprised by how good it feels. But. Not G-rated.

Hi! This piece was written by desfinado and recorded by me as part of the pod_together 2011 challenge. This was a really interesting process and was unlike any podfic I've ever done before. Since the story was being written specifically for me to record, I had some input into the creation of the story, with an eye toward the podfic process. We're planning to do a post about how it was to work on this, since it was interesting and unique for us both in a lot of ways. :)

Hey, all. Today is mrsronweasley's birthday! Hooray! I decided to celebrate with a podfic, much to everyone's complete shock, I'm sure! :)

Anyway, I've recorded her delightful, sweet and hot fic Party Games (Eureka!). There are many things to love about mrsronweasley, but the fact that this fic is the type of thing she comes up with when she's bored at work is kind of up there. It's the story of a slightly-buzzed, party-fueled first time hookup, but that's deceptively simple; as you read/listen, you discover all of the beautiful little turns of phrase and funny moments that characterize all of her writing and make her stories anything but simple.

I love you, bb! Happy birthday!! I hope you like it. ♥♥♥

I had a great time recording this. Editing gave me a bit of trouble, but I think that I wrestled it into submission in the end. :) Thanks to swiiftly for giving it a listen and reassuring me. <3
